Silence

I usually start my day by praying in front of a live stream of the Blessed Sacrament at Tyburn Convent. This morning I clicked on there to start my morning prayer and the screen was blank. Then I remembered that it is Good Friday.
Last night after the Mass of the Lords Supper, tabernacles throughout the world were left open, empty… Jesus no longer there.

Today feels different. The sun is not shining, I can not hear any birds singing at all, there is an emptiness and an eerie silence. I ‘feel’ the absence of Jesus this morning and it makes me feel a little lost. I know He is still here really but it is a grace that He has let me feel His absence so clearly. I also know though, that by tomorrow evening, after the sun has gone to its rest, the light of Christ will shine its warm rays all around once more
. I wonder how the Apostles felt though, not yet knowing or understanding that Jesus would rise again…..
